Digitised Logbook observations
A main aim of the project is to generate new information about historical changes in climate climate. To do this we are digitising the weather observations from some of the ships logs, analysing the climate information in the observations, and contributing the digitised observations to the main climate databases so they will be available to researchers for future work.
Logs digitised:
- HMS Isabella, 1818 (North-West passage expedition under John Ross, in company with HMS Alexander)
- HMS Dorothea, 1818 (North Pole expedition under David Buchan, in company with HMS Trent)
- HMS Hecla, 1819-20 (North-West passage expedition under William Parry, in company with HMS Griper)
- HMS Hecla, 1821-3 (North-West passage expedition under William Parry, in company with HMS Fury)
- HMS Hecla and HMS Fury, 1824-5 (North-West passage expedition under William Parry)
